UNEVEN INSTALLED TILES, CALLED LIPPAGE
AFTER
Lippage is removed by diamond grinding, grout is cleaned and stone has a natural high reflection & polish.
This process becomes necessary when tiles are unevenly installed or the floor needs polishing by diamond grinding.
Lippage Removal is recommended when lippage exceeds 1/16 inches (1.5 mm), or if one wishes to have the floor polished or to have a perfectly flat floor.
If no lippage exists, we employ the process of diamond surface grinding (resurfacing – honing).
Surface grinding is the process of smoothing the stone with the use of fine diamond abrasives. Although not as aggressive as deep grinding, it does require the use of water, and can also be quite messy. (We completely clean the mess caused by our restoration process).
Surface grinding is performed to remove etched stain marks, rings and scratches but will not remove the lippage. It can to some extent bevel the edges of the stone giving a smoother finish to the edge.
